Shenzhen confirmed 2 imported COVID-19 cases on Mar. 15, adding the total number of confirmed cases in the city to 423, according to the latest figures released by the Health Commission of Shenzhen Municipality today.
Case 5 was confirmed on the early morning of Mar. 15. The patient, surnamed Deng, is a 13-year-old male Hong Kong SAR resident studying in Switzerland. Previously, he had lived in Futian District. He returned to China from Switzerland, was sent to hospital directly from Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint, and was later confirmed of infection. The 4 persons on the Chinese mainland who have been traced to have had close contact with the patient have all been quarantined for medical observation. None of them have shown any COVID-19 related symptoms.
Case 6 was confirmed on the evening of Mar. 15. The patient, surnamed Liu, is a 31-year-old male of Chinese nationality who left Shenzhen for the Philippines for work purposes in September 2019. Previously, he had lived in Longgang District. He was sent to hospital directly from Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint and was later confirmed of infection. Preliminary tracing results show that no persons on the Chinese mainland have had close contact with the patient.
The 6 COVID-19 cases the city has confirmed since Feb. 22 were all imported from other countries.
Case 1, a 35-year-old male of Chinese nationality returning from the United Kingdom, was confirmed of infection on Mar. 1;
Case 2, a 70-year-old female of Chinese nationality returning from Spain, was confirmed of infection on Mar. 6;
Case 3, a 25-year-old male of Chinese nationality returning from France, was confirmed of infection on Mar. 11;
Case 4, a 52-year-old male of Chinese nationality returning from the Philippines, was confirmed of infection on Mar. 14.
Case 5, a 13-year-old male of Chinese nationality returning from Switzerland, was confirmed of infection on Mar. 15.
Case 6, a 31-year-old male of Chinese nationality returning from the Philippines, was confirmed of infection on Mar. 15.
Another2 patientswere discharged from hospital the same day.
Of the confirmed cases, 202 are male and 221 are female.
In terms of district distribution, 87 cases were reported in Nanshan District, 83 in Futian District, 71 in Longgang District, 62 in Bao’an District,34 in Longhua District, 32 in Luohu District, 11 in Guangming District, 7 in Pingshan District, 6 in Yantian District, and 2 in Dapeng New District.The other28 cases were detected upon entry to the city (from the airport, bus stations, ferry terminals, checkpoints and roadblocks etc.).
Currently, 2 patients are in critical condition, 1 in severe condition and 401 have been discharged from hospital. 3 deaths have been reported so far.
All 19 patients are being treated at Shenzhen No.3 People’s Hospital. 124 people in close contact with the patients are under medical observation.
